We got to catch up with Rana Joy and Victoria Butler at Balance Whanganui, a mental health and addiction peer support service. We learnt how empathy is one of the greatest approaches when helping people in need. Their heart and passion for helping and supporting people through their own real lived experiences is powerful. It’s through this that they can truely empathise with another person who may be going through the same struggles. They also shared how just being present and listening can be one of the greatest ways of allowing people to heal and feel supported. We loved our time with them and continue to be impacted by the people doing the mahi in our community.
