We visited Amy Perez and the rest of the Taumarunui Youth and Community Trust team in Taumaranui to learn and hear about their awesome kaupapa of getting in behind kids using sport to grow them in confidence identity and leadership. Their vision is for rangatahi to become the next leaders and to help others reach their potential. On the day these ISport student leaders ran an inter high school event where kids learnt the sport Ki-O-Rahi. It was truly inspiring to see these young people taking the lead in organising and running the event. There’s a saying that things are better caught than taught. Amy and her team is passing on their passion, belief and determination to the next gen, with faith that they will push themselves beyond what they have ever imagined and impact their whānau, communities and beyond in a positive way.
