Peter Kaua, Principal of Whanganui City College and their staff have nothing but hope and success in mind for their students. They realise that there’s no ‘one size fits all,’ and that students are gifted in many ways.
This lead to joining together with Brittons House Movers and AGC Training for Industry to running a building program within Whanganui City College. This opened up an awesome opportunity for the kids to be hands on, learning to build an actual whare while gaining the necessary NCEA level 2 and 3 credits needed for their career pathway into the future.
More importantly Peter communicates that the most valuable thing throughout their time at kura is tūhonohono, connection with the kids. To love them and to give them a sense of pride and identity in who they are, where they come from and where they are going and equipping them for the journey of life.
